You may speak with only one that you are familiar with or with many of them.

When you are finished speaking with them, thank them, embrace them, and say your farewells.

Begin to retrace your steps through the field toward your front door.

Return to the room where you began.

Slowly acknowledge the room around you and return your light bubble to the candle.

When you are ready open your eyes.

As you breathe in begin to visualize the light of the candle growing and surrounding you.

Begin to create a bubble of light around you. This bubble will protect you on your journey.

The light now begins to enter your body through your skin.

Where the light enters you begin to feel a tingling sensation that starts to encompass your whole body.

In your mind, begin to stand up and walk toward the door that leaves your home.

As you open the door, you can see that the world outside has changed.

As you walk through the threshold, you notice you are in an endless field of grass.

In the far distance, you can see a tree stump peering out of the grass.

Taking your first step towards the tree stump, feel the grass below you.

The sky above you is blue and clear. The air is warm with a slight breeze.

As you walk toward the tree stump you can see human figures begin to appear around it; figures of various heights and sexes.

    These are your ancestors.

As you reach the stump the figures become clearer, in detail, some you may recognize some you do not.

They welcome you and guide you to sit on the tree stump.

As you sit down, you can feel the hardness of the wood beneath you.

Your ancestors sit around you in the grass.

This is your time to communicate and be among them.

This may be done at your ancestor altar or somewhere that is comfortable and where you can relax. Choose soft music to play during your meditation to help set the mood.

Begin by lighting a candle and some incense. If you created an incense blend in week three, you may want to use that, or create one from the list of herbs at the end of this chapter. Turn off the lights. Close your eyes, make yourself comfortable and relax.

Next begin to prepare for the meditation by breathing in deeply through your nose, filling your belly, hold for a count of three and exhale through your mouth. Do this three times, or until you feel relaxed, centered and open.

Feel the room around you; acknowledge the glow of the candle and the scent of incense.
