‘Don’t you have any work to do?’ he snapped, as he retrieved his phone and a set of keys and slid them into his pocket. ‘Lily and I don’t have any time to waste. We have a meeting at the hospital with the architect.’

In spite of the fact that they were on their way to visit his father and that the man was apparently seriously ill, she didn’t think she’d ever seen Razak looking so relaxed. ‘As for the new suite, initially I will be working one day a week for a five-hour stretch, using the two theatres simultaneously. Of course, the higher number of operations will mean that my consultation hours will be correspondingly greater, as will my follow-ups, so decisions about adding any extra theatre sessions will come later.’
