Mark Lamprell

Mark Lamprell is an Australian author and screenwriter known for his film, television and literature work. He writes contemporary fiction and is best known for his novels The Full Ridiculous and One Summer Day in Rome.

His debut novel, The Full Ridiculous, was published in 2013 and was shortlisted for the 2015 Russell Prize for Humour Writing. His next novel, One Summer Day in Rome, was published in 2018. In 2024, he published Things I Need You to Know, a book exploring grief, family, and resilience themes.

In addition to his literary career, Lamprell has made significant contributions to film and television. He co-wrote the screenplay for Babe: Pig in the City and wrote and directed the feature film My Mother Frank. He also co-wrote and directed the musical film Goddess.

Lamprell has said of his love of cinema: "I'm an openly promiscuous film buff with a voracious and indiscriminate appetite."

His writing style combines humour with deep emotional insight. He creates layered narratives that balance lighthearted moments with serious themes. His stories often explore family, relationships and life's unexpected twists and turns.

Mark lives in Sydney, Australia, with his wife, Klay Lamprell, who is also a writer.
