John Fielding and his father Mason are returning from a movie on a rainy school day for John. They find an intruder in their garage, and has a confrontation with Mason. Several years later, after the memories of the event have been moved to his subconscious, John is riding his bike along a tidal bay, in the area of he, his mother and sister's new home, and he hears a scream that is undoubtedly a woman, and he thinks, a murder. John struggles with the implications of hearing the noise, all while trying to solve the case on his own, with the help of a fictional guardian angel, the one blocking him from the memories of his father's death. Finally, after the work of a lazy detective, finally, John's hope and future remain intact before closure.
