Erotica Romana is also known as the “Roman Elegies.” It is written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe as a literary tribute to human sexuality and eroticism. Erotica Roman contains a cycle of 24 poems that have sexual themes, and four of them were actually suppressed from publication during Goethe's lifetime due to fears of censorship. The poems were also a loving tribute to Christiane Vulpius who is Goethe’s companion.
