Green Man was dead. Dramatically. At last. Gregor could now rest in peace, knowing that the heinous serial killer known only to the world as Green Man, had finally met his demise.

Gregor would die too. There was little hope, as he lied pinned under tons of razor sharp glass shards that had fallen on him and Green Man. The tradeoff was worth it. Gregor had no regrets for a life well lived. He was a valiant hero. He was a martyr. This was the price one has to sometimes pay for achieving greatness and admiration from others. Gregor did not begrudge the fate that karma had bestowed upon him. Green Man was his cross to bear. A great hero requires a great villain. Green Man certainly had to be considered one of the greatest villains of contemporary times. Who could argue that?

Gregor's eyes glazed blankly ahead, staring directly at the lifeless figure of the notorious Green Man, whom lay prone some six feet away. A large glass shard stuck out of the right upper leg of the criminal, not unlike the tip of a glacier protruding from a deep cold sea. It was ironic that a similar shard protruded from the opposite leg of Gregor. Who wouldn't notice the irony? Everything about the two men was opposite.

Gregor was kind and passive. He couldn't hurt a fly. On the other hand, Green Man tortured and killed everything that stood in his way. They were classic polar opposites. Good versus Evil.

Gregor began to doze off…perhaps for the final time. That was ok. Gregor smiled. He felt liberated. He was free.

Green Man was gone forever.

…or was he?
